Due to some enterprise network config, I set up the storage folder of WLMD (8.x) clients on a different mass storage, changing the default one. This is the infamous APOP bug that only occurs with a few mail servers. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and promised it will be fixed in the next release of WLM.
